Founded in 1987 in Farmington Connecticut, a suburb of Hartford, the state capital, the Connecticut Culinary Institute has become one of the most prestigious and well rounded Culinary arts schools in the nation. In March, 1998 the CT Culinary Institute became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Baran Institute of Technology, Inc.
Quickly expanding the educational base, the school opened a new branch campus in Suffield, Connecticut in September of 2000. Near the Massachusetts state line, the Suffield Campus occupies an amazing 64 full rural acres on the Connecticut River. This piece of land was also known to be a former seminary training grounds for religion. Just minutes away from I-91 and the Bradley International Airport the campus features many modern amenities including student housing, seven teaching kitchens, and a computer lab not to mention it’s state of the art facilities.
The CT Culinary Institute completed plans in March 2006 to move the original Farmington campus to Hartford. The CT Culinary Institute now resides in a former 367,000 square foot hotel. This new campus is perfectly located in an urban setting very close to downtown Hartford and has a multitude of restaurants and entertainment within walking distance of the school making it perfect for the students to view and explore the city. At the new campus they recently completed the manufacture of six newly constructed teaching kitchens which have all the high technological amenities you would find at top locations worldwide in addition to the existing large production kitchen. This campus also features two amphitheatres, a computer lab and a Learning Resource Center that students have access to 24 hours a day 365 days a year, as well as other brand new amenities that make going to the CT Culinary Institute a perfect choice for new culinary technologists..
